Can I get rid of my liver spots on my hands?

Liver spots or age spots start appearing on the skin as a person ages. Depending on the severity of the problem they can vary in color. Liver spots are basically the result of excess melanin production when the skin tries to protect itself from sun exposure. Try the following simple treatment for age spots -

  • Apply aloe vera cream or vitamin E cream over the liver spots to lighten them. Natural aloe vera can also be applied that is extracted from fresh aloe leaves.
  • Take some butter milk in a cotton ball and dab it over the live spots on your hand.
  • Rub castor oil on these spots every morning and night. They should disappear or lighten if done regularly for a month.
  • 20 minutes before stepping out in sun wear a sunscreen lotion of appropriate sun protecting factor. This will help prevent the further development of liver spots.
  • Always carry sunglasses or an umbrella whenever you step out in sun. Protect yourself from sun in every ways. Avoid stepping out between 11am to 3pm as the sun rays can be highly damaging in this period.

Although harmless, liver spots needs to be treated as they affect the physical appearance of a person. Consult a dermatologist before applying any tropical creams or ointments on your liver spots.
