How can I get rid of odor in my vaginal area?

An odor of any kind in the vaginal area could indicate an infection of some kind. You would need a medical examination to rule out this possibility before you begin using any home remedies. While a mild infection may be cured with home remedies, if it has been around for more than a couple of weeks, you may need the help of medication to get rid of it. An excellent remedy to get rid of the odor is to apply plain fresh yogurt to the area. The active bacteria present in yogurt will take care of mild infections as well as remove any unpleasant smells.

You should also try to make certain habit and lifestyle changes if you want to find a permanent solution to the problem. Try to shave your pubic hair. If you cannot, at least keep it trimmed to a length of not more than a quarter of an inch. Long pubic hair traps drops of urine and leaves behind an odor. Wear only cotton to cover your genitals and all of your pubic area. Cotton will allow your skin to breathe, and keep it free of trapping sweat and leading to a stale smell. Change panties at least twice a day. You can wash your genitals with diluted vinegar (one part vinegar to 15 parts water). Do this for a week and you will notice the difference.
