Lose Weight Naturally with Coconut Oil

A diet high in refined carbohydrates such as sugar and white flour is one of the major factors behind the rising rates of obesity. Reducing refined carbohydrates and including coconut oil in your diet can help you lose weight quickly and safely.

Refined carbohydrates such as sugar and white flour, also known as high glycemic index foods, get digested quickly and raise the blood sugar sharply. Insulin is released by the pancreas to carry this sugar (Glucose) to the cells and organs of the body which convert the glucose into energy.

If there is more glucose in the blood than the body's energy requirement, excess glucose is converted into fat and stored in various body parts of the body such as the hips, waist, stomach and thighs causing weight gain. Quick digestion of refined carbs also makes the person hungry sooner and causes overeating. This process of fat accumulation and overeating causes obesity over time.

Any weight loss diet must replace refined carbohydrates with healthy complex carbohydrates like whole grains, vegetables and fruits. The good thing about complex carbohydrates is that they take longer to digest, provide a sustained release of glucose in the bloodstream and make you feel full due to their high fiber content, thus preventing obesity.

Coconut oil is Mother Nature's gift to those who wish to lose weight and maintain good health. Coconut oil is a very healthy oil which:

  • Does not contain any cholesterol (0%)
  • Doesn't go rancid or get oxidized by heat or light due to its high saturated fat content, making it an ideal cooking oil
  • Contains at least 2.56% fewer calories as compared to polyunsaturated oils such as corn oil or safflower seed oil
  • Possesses antioxidant properties which protect your body from free radical damage

Coconut oil contains high amounts of a special fat called medium chain triglycerides (MCT). A lot of scientific research has been done on the health enhancing effects of high MCT oils. Diets high in MCT oils such as the coconut oil have been found to cause weight loss and reduction in the deposition of fats on the body.

A diet high in MCT oils such as the coconut oil has been found to be 3 times more effective at losing weight as compared to a diet that contains high polyunsaturated oils such as Soybean oil.

In other words, Coconut oil speeds up the metabolism and helps in burning the fat accumulated in the body, leading to weight loss and a trimmer and fitter body.
