A healthy and long life calls for a number of things, such as a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, enough sleep, plenty of exercise, water, and giving up any bad habits such as smoking, drinking or overeating, that cause ill health and disease.

  1. Diet: With all that is available today, there is no excuse not to eat healthy. The fact is, many foods rich in minerals and vitamins are available for your consumption on the go. With some very minor changes, even your fast foods can become healthy choices if you considering vitamins.

     

    Try to eat as many whole foods as possible as against processed stuff. The reason why processed foods are enriched is that their process has divested them of almost all their essential nutrients. Instead, by eating natural foods, you let your body have the nutrients it requires to fight disease and let you to live a longer, healthier life. So prepare a wide variety of healthy foods at home to be had as snacks.

  2. Workouts: Even though most people know the importance of workouts and physical fitness, things often get in the way and exercise is often the last thing on our minds. Starting a family fitness regimen is a great way to inculcate your kids with a lifetime love of physical fitness. It's good for your health and waistline as well. This doesn't mean you have to strive to be a professional athlete. Just making time for 15-20 minutes of exercise daily is enough.
  3. Rest: Besides workouts you need plenty of good rest and sleep to remain healthy. The point is to get 7-9 hours of deep sleep every night as against to a few nights in a week. Getting at least 8 hours of sleep every night can extend your life by years. Believe it or not!
  4. Water: Research has proven you can accelerate your metabolism by one-third, just by drinking several glasses of ice water a day. There are at least a dozen ways water helps the different parts of our bodies, including our heart, skin and digestive systems. Hence, it is extremely important to have plenty of water. Make it a point to drink at least 8 glasses of water a day.
  5. Banish those bad habits: If you have any bad habits that keep you from achieving better health, such as overeating, smoking, or watching TV for hours each day stop them now. Over time, they can lead to a number of health disorders like hypertension, obesity, and cancer. Best consult your doctor and healthcare provider how you can overcome your existing bad habits and replace them with new ones.
