Treatment for Umbilical Hernia

Typically an Umbilical hernia will heal on its own by the time the child is a year old. In fact in some cases, during a physical examination, the doctor may even be able to push the bulge back into the abdomen. Surgery is considered as a treatment option for cases wherein the Umbilical hernia has not disappeared on its own even when the child is almost 4 years old, or if the hernia appears to get bigger or get trapped in the intestines. Post-surgery, the person may be allowed to go home and they may even resume their normal day to day activities within four weeks after the surgery.
