Home Remedies for Trigeminal Neuralgia

As such there are no home remedies and natural remedies for trigeminal neuralgia. Regarding alternative therapies, some people have found relief with acupuncture, biofeedback, and electrical therapy. There is however, little evidence from scientific research to support their efficacy in reducing the pain associated with trigeminal neuralgia.

Some nutritionists recommend a low saturated fat diet for those suffering from trigeminal neuralgia. This is because excessive saturated fats in the diet may prevent the body from repairing damage caused to facial nerves.

According to Dr. Yoram Shir, director of the Alan Edwards Pain Management Unit at McGill University Health Center, diets high in soy protein and omega-3 fatty acids appear to inhibit pain. However, larger studies are required to confirm these findings.
