Symptoms of Septicemia


  • One of the most common symptoms of Septicemia or blood poisoning is the development of a rash or inflammation all over the skin of the individual.
  • Some of the other symptoms of Septicemia are a high fever which could range from 39 to 40 degree C.
  • Symptoms of Septicemia also include breathlessness, development of chills and fever
  • A rapid heart rate on account of the gradual development of respiratory failure is also known to be one of the common symptoms of Septicemia.
  • In case of children, some of the initial symptoms of Septicemia or blood poisoning may also be nausea, vomiting, lethargy, diarrhea or even an intestinal infection.
These are the initial signs and symptoms of Septicemia which can help in the early diagnosis of the medical condition. However if these symptoms are ignored they may quickly aggravate and progress to:

  • A change in the overall mental state of the person
  • No or decreased urine output
  • The person may also go into a state of shock.
