Prognosis of Septic Shock

The prognosis of septic shock depends on when it is identified and treated. Patients of septic shock are often known to die because the infection is usually identified late. Along with the timeliness of identifying the infection, other factors like health of the patient, stage of the infection - if any, how many organs have failed and how aggressive is the damage also play a role in the prognosis of septic shock. If septic shock is left untreated for more than 7 days, death of the patient is almost certain.
