  • Taking vitamin D supplements if you are pregnant or when breastfeeding
  • Taking calcium supplements to encourage proper bone growth and development
  • Exposing your child to appropriate amounts of sunlight
  • Changing your diet to include foods rich in vitamin D, calcium, and phosphorus
