Eyebright
suggested by Jill on Monday, May 28, 2007

Put four drops of eyebright tincture (also called Euphrasia)in cold spring water (about 4oz), then dip a soft papertowel (I prefer Viva)into the water and place over eyes, being sure it actually touches the eyes. Same mixture can be applied directly to eyes with a cotton ball or paper towel to remove any sticky gunk. Always wash hands after treating conjunctivitis.

conjunctivitis
suggested by d on Tuesday, May 15, 2007

For my 3 babies, anytime they had sticky eyes, each time I gave them a breast feed I would squirt some of the milk into both eyes. Let them rest in your arms for a few minutes with a little pool of breastmilk in their eyes. It doesn't bother them at all and will clear up simply after a 2-3 days. If you cannot squirt the milk directly into babies eyes then use a cotton ball with breast milk on it to wipe the eyes. I always found it much quicker to clear up using the breast milk directly into the eyes though.

Boric acid soft lens solution
suggested by simona on Thursday, March 8, 2007

My 21 month has pink eye as of yesterday. The antibiotic drops that the doctor prescribed not only cost 60 dollars but are useless as well since they irritate her eyes further. I made a lot of research and found that soft lens solution (SOFT not hard) that contains boric acid is an amzing bacteria killer and cures pink eye in 2 days. I tried it on her, I was skepticall ofcourse, but her eyes are now clear and she doesnt have the discharge that makes her eyes sticky. I did not buy the solution from the pharmacy but made it home by boiling 32 oz or a quart water and adding one teaspoon of boric acid powder. It works wonders! It is also very helpfull for yeast infections in women if you add powder to a 00 size veggie capsule and use one a night for one week. Goodluck!
