Causes of Plague

Causes of plague can be classified as underneath:

  • Plague sets in rodents and pets when infected rodents transmit the bacteria from one animal to another. When infested rodents enter into the dwellings of human beings, they also get infected.
  • Human beings can obtain the bacteria through fleabites from infected animals or through inhalation of the infected droplets that may result in the grave form of the disease, pneumonic plague. Once an individual is infected, other people may also contract the bacteria through bites from the diseased persons.
Rarely, is the infection spread by handling of rodents or pets. When the disease is contracted by inhaling infected droplets, the possibility for an epidemic to break out is quite high.
