Immune SystemMost of the people get fed up when they have to take leaves from their work or miss their schools or colleges due to their ill-health.
Even though, each and every individual is blessed with an efficient immune system to fight off external disease causing factors but studies have revealed that with increased levels of pollution, aggravated stress levels and unhygienic surroundings, people are falling ill more often than before.
An immune system basically is a mechanism which works inside each and every living being. Its job is to recognize any foreign substances within the body and destroy them before they are able to affect the functioning of the body negatively.
The process of detecting these disease causing germs and viruses is very complex as they try to infest the host body by mixing up with body cells and tissues. In the absence of an efficient immune system, our body will become highly susceptible to disease causing germs and pathogens.
The only reason why an individual is able to survive minor colds, fever and bruises is that his immune system rushes to act upon the infected area in order to protect and recover the affected organ or body part. The various organs of the immune system which help in eradicating the harmful organisms which attack the body on a daily basis include bone marrow, lymphatic vessels, lymph nodes and spleen among others.
The white blood vessels which are also known as lymphocytes are present throughout the body in the bone marrow. Their main job is to fight and neutralize the effect of harmful pathogens.
Some recent studies done by experienced immunologists all over the world has shown that stress can be contributed as one of the main reason for a decline in the performance of a person’s immune system.
People in today’s hectic environment live under constant conditions of excessive stress, anxiety and frustration. As an individual becomes more and more absorbed in his work, he even fails to realize the repercussions faced by his immune system due to chronic stress.
Stress can be a silent killer of our immune system if not paid heed to.
Bottled up negative emotions, constant cribbing can intensify the situation of sympathetic activities while reducing our body’s stamina to fight off harmful pathogens from infecting our cells.
A dysfunctional immune system can lead to a lot of fatal diseases as our body loses the much required protection shield. Our body becomes an easy prey to most common of the diseases as it loses its power to resist them.
Moreover, it becomes all the more harder for our body to recover even from the most common ailments, thus reducing a person’s stamina and strength to stay healthy.
The most deadly disease caused in the absence of proficient immune system is AIDS (Acquired Immuno Deficiency Virus), which renders a person incapable of performing any task as the person remains terminally ill. Moreover, there is absolutely no perfect cure for this disease.
Henceforth, proper care should be taken to ensure that our protection shield i.e. our immune system is efficient and well protected from harmful pathogens and stress, so that we may live relatively longer and healthier.
