Balanitis is a condition when the foreskin of the penis head or glans is swelling and inflamed. Though this condition or case is common to young boys who are not yet circumcised, there are some other factors that contribute to the balanitis causes.

- This cause is common to those men who are already having sexual intercourse. The allergy may be caused by the rubbing of penis and vagina because the partner may be using some skin care products. There are some men who are extra sensitive to additives and latex used to produce and manufacture condoms.
- BXO or Balanitis Xerotica Obliterans
- This is the condition that mainly and greatly affects the penis head foreskin. This may also result to phimosis, a condition that makes the pulling back of the fore skin harder and almost impossible. In this condition, balanitis will require a long-term treatment.
- Balanitis Circinata
- This is a manifestation of arthritis present in the skin.
- Other General Skin Condition
- Psoriasis, eczema, skin allergies and lichen planus are some of the skin conditions that may cause risk for the development of balanitis.
Diabetes is one of the balanitis causes. The less production of insulin causes increases skin sensitivity even to some minor micro-living organisms. Diabetic patients should be extra clean avoiding the build-up of these microorganisms.
