Symptoms of Balanitis



The signs and symptoms of Balanitis include:

  • Reddening of the head of the penis (glans)
  • Inflammation, irritation and soreness of the glans
  • Thick discharge from beneath the foreskin
  • Itching around the glans
  • Unpleasant odor arising from the glans
  • Phimosis or tightening of the foreskin which prevents it from retracting
  • Pain while urinating
  • Irritation and discharge beneath the foreskin a couple of days after sexual intercourse
Many of the signs and symptoms of balanitis mimic those of some sexually transmitted diseases.
