Bipolar disorder is also referred to as “Manic Depression”. This psychological condition implies severe shifts in moods – from the extreme highs of mania to the deepest of depressions. Bipolar disorder involves a lot more than just normal mood swings. The episodes of mania and depression associated with this disorder can last for days to months and interfere with a person’s normal daily functioning.
There is still plenty of research that needs to be carried out on the causes of bipolar disorder. As of now the reasons and risk factors are still not completely understood. More confusion occurs since the symptoms of the condition can be subtle at times and this often leads to misdiagnosis.
