Prevention from Astigmatism

Since most cases of astigmatism are related to congenital defects in the eye structure, there is little that can be done to prevent the condition. It may also be very difficult to prevent the changes that naturally occur in the curvature of the cornea. On the other hand, you can protect your eyes from undue injuries and strain that may trigger astigmatism.

Since astigmatism is often associated with near sightedness and far sightedness, you may take better care of your eyes to prevent astigmatism. Follow a good diet to keep your eyes healthy. There are some simple eye exercises that you can perform to keep the eye muscles healthy. If you work for long hours in front of a computer or are positioned in front of a TV screen for long durations, take frequent breaks and rest your eyes from time to time. This will prevent drying of the eyes.
