Gallbladder wall thickening advice

The condition wherein the walls of the gall bladder thicken is medically known as cholecystitis. This may be caused due to several reasons, of which the most rampant one is a gallstone in the duct that connects the gallbladder to the hepatic duct, also known as the cystic duct. Some other causes are bacterial infection in the duct, any kind of infection or tumour in the liver or the pancreas or a drop in blood supply to the gallbladder which is sometimes a result of diabetes.

However, these causes are fewer and far between.

Cholecystitis is a problem that can occur all of a sudden, or it may even take years to develop and be detected only when it is full blown. It is important to note that you should go for a medical consultation as soon as you have been diagnosed with this problem.

It requires complete medical care, including a hospital stay, possible surgery and in extremely advanced cases, even surgical removal of the gall bladder. If the case is not serious enough to be considered beyond repair, it is possible to take courses of oral medication, including a series of antibiotics to dissolve the gallstone that is the cause of the problem. However, it is completely up to a medical practitioner to make this decision.
