Gingivitis is a tooth disease caused by bacteria in the mouth. The bacteria live in plaque. It causes gum infection and bad breath.

Here are few home remedies for treating gingivitis -

  • Use a toothpaste which contains saga and peppermint oil.
  • Chew slowly a clove or rub your teeth with clove oil.
  • For reducing swelling gargle with warm water with salt.
  • Make a mixture of mustard oil and common salt. Rub the mixture on your gums and teeth for few seconds. Now gargle with warm water. Do it after every eating.
  • Prepare a mouthwash of 1 liter water with 10-15 eucalyptus leaves. Heat the water for 5 minutes. Strain the water and add 2-3 drops of clove oil and boil the water. If you have no clove oil take 6-7 cloves and grind it by adding water. Use it for gargling after every meal.
  • Use of toothpaste having basil, babul, margosa and mint are helpful. All have antibacterial properties.
  • Rubbing the teeth with baking soda and water is helpful.
  • Rubbing with aloe vera pulp is beneficial.
  • Consume foods having low saturated fats.
  • Eat lots of vegetables and fruits.
