Development of a closed sac in a cavity or any part of the body is a cyst. They are abnormal growths, filled with fluid. The risk of a cyst developing into cancer is less.


  Infections results in cyst and is commonly seen in pregnancy.  Cysts in the breast, ovaries and any other internal organ fail to provide any symptom. Cysts are generally painless and mild.


Certain cysts project symptoms, based on the size and location in the human body. Accidental medical imaging or X ray done during a general check up brings out such conditions. External cysts are noticeable. Bioflavanoids and vitamin C supplements help in decreasing the growth of certain cysts. Most cysts are surgically removed by an incision made in the respective area, under local anaesthesia. Breakage of the cyst under self governance is not recommended. Some cysts are small enough to dissolve on their own. Antibiotics prove beneficial in curing cysts, in course of time. Vitamin and mineral supplements prove effective in dissolving certain kinds of cyst. Iron supplements are avoided, unless recommended. Oestrogen rich foods are avoided in case of ovarian cyst. Low carbohydrate diet is advised, devoid of alcohol.
