I have my first D&C on 8 march 2011 and second D&C on 23 July 2011, since then I have no periods. What should I do?

The natural reasons for missing a period are pregnancy, breast-feeding or menopause. Skipping your periods indicates that the hormone called estrogen is less in your body. The side-effects of using certain kinds of drugs, such as those for blood pressure, depression, and cancer, may be other reasons for missing a period. Women who eat very less to reduce weight, those who are thin or those who exercise a lot experience irregular periods because of hormonal imbalance in their body. Make sure that you do not have anemia or any thyroid disorder. Remember that if you are on contraceptives, you will miss your periods. When you stop taking these, the periods resume after three to six months.

It would be best to consult a gynecologist to find out the causes of irregular periods. As you mentioned that your periods stopped after D&C, consulting a specialist is even more important to rule out uterine scarring due to D&C, which sometimes leads to a condition called Asherman’s disease, preventing menstrual cycles. Also, doctors need to rule out any cyst or malformation in the reproductive organs.

There is nothing better than eating a well-balanced diet: avoid fast foods and smoking. Include milk or milk products in your daily diet, which are rich in calcium. Research has shown that including soybean in any form in your diet is beneficial. Include nuts, seeds, and vegetables in your diet as well. Drink Aloe vera juice in empty stomach for seven to eight days. Drinking herbal tea made by boiling water with freshly grated ginger root and crushed fennel seeds is one of the natural remedies for irregular periods. Also, try to de-stress yourself in some way. Meditation, sound sleep, and listening to music really help in this case, since stress is a very common cause of hormonal imbalance, leading to irregular periods.
