A gum infection can be described as a dental disease, which takes place when the teeth or the gums are attacked by the bacteria, normally present in the plaque, present in the mouth. In case a person does not follow the proper dental hygiene measures, these bacteria produce a substance that is toxic in nature and is harmful for the gums, as well as the teeth. As soon as a gum infection occurs, it takes the form of gingivitis, which is characterized by swelling in the gums.
