Some other persistent dry cough causes are an infection of the upper respiratory tract, whooping cough, smoking, allergic reaction to grain, dust and pollen.

Vitamin C is known to promote the faster healing of dry cough. One of the home remedies for treating dry cough effectively is to mix together some freshly extracted ginger juice and some honey. This mixture should be consumed at least 3-4 times a day for effective relief form a persistent dry cough. Another natural treatment for dry cough is to chew on a small piece of ginger on which a little salt has been sprinkled. The juice that is produced should be swallowed to get effective relief from dry cough. Additionally, another natural treatment for a persistent dry cough is to prepare a mixture of one teaspoon of honey and a pinch of turmeric. A teaspoon of this mixture should be consumed at least 3 – 4 times a day to ensure that the persistent dry cough vanishes completely.

Many times individuals suffering from a persistent dry cough tend to have difficulty sleeping on account of the constant coughing. Hence an effective natural treatment for a persistent dry cough is to boil some milk and add some honey to it. One may also prepare and drink herbal tea as one of the home remedies for a dry cough. The herbal tea may be prepared by boiling together some lemon juice, grated ginger, holy basil and a whole pepper. This tea should be consumed twice on a daily basis as it is known to be very effective even against the most stubborn dry coughs. Those suffering from a dry cough should try and increase their intake of fluids which could even be in the form of chicken soup or both or even vegetable soup to which they could add some garlic.
