If your "short breath" is due to lack of expansion of your chest cavity, and you do not have a structural or functional disability, you can practice "abdominal breathing." You can place your hands on your lower abdomen and ensure your hands move, as you take a deep breath. Yoga and Qi Gong are excellent ways to work on breathing techniques.
From a mental/emotional standpoint, the lungs allow us to connect to others--"we breathe in the experience of the world around us, and breathe out our own experience." So, you might also explore your own attitudes about relationships. Also, the heart and lungs work together to establish rhythym.
If your heart is not functioning well, then your lungs will not be able oxygenate your blood properly. Dr. Karen Benton ND www.countrydoc.com
