I am getting married on December 3rd. I want to prepone my menses. Suggest a home remedy so that I can prepone my periods to at least a week.

A wedding day is the most awaited or dreamed of day for a woman and when you know that you are due for your periods on that day, it could spoil all the fun. Such a situation could play a spoilt sport when dreaming of a beautiful, romantic vacation together with your loved one. At some point of time in a woman’s life, she always wishes she had delayed or proponed her menses for a few days. There a very few home remedies available to prepone or delay menstruation.

Here are some tricks to try to prepone it, so that your wedding day or vacation is period-free. Eating Papaya is the best home remedy option to prepone your periods. As papaya generates a lot of heat in the body a woman can help prepone periods. Try and eat some jaggery and sesame seeds, 1 tablespoon each together. Eat tiny pea size camphor wrapped in one betel leaf also known as “vethalai”. Mix the juice of 1 large pomegranate and 1 glass of sugar cane juice. Consume this at least four times a day. Consuming only buttermilk, curd and rice or bananas proves very effective. Have 1 table spoon of ginger juice mixed with 2-3 table spoon of jaggery. Consume anything that is warm to your body as it will help prepone periods. Some people even believe in applying henna and washing your hair will help prepone your period. It would be better if you try this at least two weeks prior so in case one remedy does not work you could try the other one. There are no pills available however to prepone menses.

Since it’s a wedding many woman due to the stress and exertion during this time naturally begin their menstrual period earlier than expected. It is always advisable to visit a doctor before you can take any pill to postpone or prepone your menses as this could prove harmful because you are altering the normal menstrual cycle which further hampers the activity of hormonal secretion. There could also be other side effects such as the next time you get your period it could be more painful and the bleeding as well could be heavy. It could also put you to risk as blood clots can also form in the uterus and cause reproductive complications and diseases. Visit a doctor to avoid any complication and get all information on the advantages and side effects of any medication that is suggested.
