Dark, Oily Skin Home Remedies: I have a little bit oily skin and it is dark and dull ,pimples at the side of the face. Please advice me for a bright cheerful gloomy skin and to get rid of pimples

The health of a person can be easily gauged by the texture of his/her skin. A bright and flawless complexion often points to the fact that a person is healthy and well nourished. Likewise, an oily skin complexion that is dull, points out to the fact that the person is suffering form some underlying health condition. This is why our skin appears pale when we fall ill. Most often, addressing the underlying problem will also help you get rid of your dull skin texture. A visit to your family doctor will help in determining whether or not you are actually suffering form an underlying health condition. If your reports are negative, then your condition can be treated effectively at home with the help of simple home remedies.

Pimples are most often noticed on oily skin complexions. This is because the oil produced by the body known as sebum is transported to the surface of the skin through minute pores present on the surface of our skin. When these pores get blocked by dead skin cells they restrict the flow of sebum, which gets clogged in the pores thus leading to the formation of pimples. The most effective way of getting rid of pimples is by maintaining facial hygiene and by consuming a healthy diet. The following suggestions will help you achieve the same.

  • Wash your face regularly. The most effective and natural way of washing away excess oil from the skin is by washing your face as often as possible. Do not use soap or face washes more than twice everyday, as they could leave your skin excessively dry. A mild herbal face wash would prove more effective in this regard. Alternately, you could just scrub your face gently with a few margosa leaves instead. Margosa is an excellent natural skin cleanser that has anti bacterial properties.
  • In order to prevent your pimples from spreading further, you may apply a paste made of aloe vera juice, turmeric powder, honey and rice flour. Take 5 teaspoons of aloe vera juice, ¼ teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon of honey and 2 teaspoons of rice flour. Mix it well and apply the paste on your pimples. Aloe vera has many skin healing properties and also acts like an invisible bandage, thereby protecting the skin from harmful bacteria. Turmeric is a natural anti bacterial agent that kills germs and bacteria present on the infected area, while honey keeps the skin moisturized.
  • Exfoliating your facial skin twice every week will ensure that your skin gets rid off the dead skin cells, which makes your face look dark and dull. For this purpose you can simply rub a sliced lemon on your face. Allow the juice to settle on your skin and then using sugar granules gently rub your skin in circular motions. The juice of the lemon is acidic in nature and helps loosen dead skin cells, while the sugar granules act as an effective exfoliating agent.

Following these remedies will help you achieve a healthy and glowing skin complexion.
