Immune system secretes mucous to throw out dust particles organisms etc and by coughing this mucous is thrown out in the form of globules. In order to help the immune system you can boil 1 cup milk, 1 cup water together adding 1/4 tsp turmeric powder to it. After 1 cup remains, allow it to cool to look warm, add 2 pinches of powdered sea salt and drink quickly. This facilitates the mucous to become litle more free flowing so that coughing effort is not hard.

Coughing is not a disease, but a symptom of an underlying one. A simple cough need not be worried about. But, a coughing up phlegm that is foul-smelling or stained with blood is a matter of concern. It requires immediate guidance from your physician.
