Treating Open Skin Pores: how can i reduce open skin pores?

Enlarged or open pores is a problem that is most common in people with oily skin. It is often a precursor to whiteheads, blackheads and pimples. It is important to follow a regular cleansing skin care regimen to ensure that your pores are clean and free of all blockages.

Open pores are most apparent on the apples of the cheeks, the nose and the chin. This is because the greatest concentrations of sebaceous glands are in these areas. Sebaceous glands produce a natural oil called sebum which comes to the skin surface via the pores. When these pores get blocked by dead skin cells and oil they become enlarged. You should follow a regular skin care program to keep your skin clean and free of excess oil.

Use a face wash that is suited to your skin type to clean your face. This will get rid of the excess oil and grime on the surface of the skin which would normally house pimple causing bacteria. Unfortunately It is not easy to keep the pores of the skin clean as a face wash will only help to clean the surface of the skin. You can use a face scrub to lightly exfoliate your skin; this will help to get rid of dead skin cells and will keep your skin smooth and blemish free.

Steam your face once a week to help to prevent blockages and close open pores. The hot steam causes your skin to sweat as well as produce more oil. This helps to flush out the pores and remove any remaining dead skin cells that may be lodged within them. Steam your face for at least 8 minutes and then rinse it well with very warm water. If you have oily skin you can add a tablespoon of lemon juice to the mug of water to cleanse your skin of the oil and sweat. Add a little fuller's earth to a clean bowl and add equal quantities of cucumber juice and fresh mint leaf juice. Add two drops of Margosa oil to the bowl and mix the ingredients thoroughly so that they form a thin paste. Fuller's earth is a clay that absorbs oil and other impurities from the skin. It is extremely absorbent and so a paste applied to the skin helps to draw out the oil from within the pores. Once it dries completely, rinse your face with lukewarm water. The Margosa oil in this pack helps to kill off bacteria within the pores of the skin. Enlarged pores often lead to blackheads, whiteheads and pimples. So make sure that you keep your skin clean so that your pores do not become enlarged.
