My ear has closed off due to sinus drainage are there any natural cures for this?

If the sinuses are blocked, then almost all the areas surrounding the sinuses too will be blocked, including the ears. So, basically, what you need to do is take care of the sinuses and your ears will automatically open up. You need to start off with the old and time-tested method of steam inhalation. Pour boiling water in a pan and add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to it. Immediately place your face over the pan and cover your head and the bowl with a thick cloth or a towel. This will ensure that the steam from the boiling water comes directly at your face. You will immediately feel your sinuses loosening up. Gently pinch your eyebrows for a few minutes, this will help to open up your sinuses or at least help reduce the pain caused due to the sinuses. You can try placing warm compress on the areas that hurt due to the sinus, but this works only for some people, not all. Take some cinnamon powder and mix it with water to create a paste. This you can apply to your forehead. Alternatively, mix dried ginger powder with milk and apply this to the forehead. These too will help with the sinus. Whenever you go to sleep, sleep on an alleviated pillow as this will help with the headache.

Apart from this, drink plenty of warm water throughout the day. This too will help to open up the blocked sinuses. Drink at least one glass of grape juice during the day to take care of any phlegm that might be accumulated. If you are in the habit of drinking tea, switch to herbal tea and add peppercorns, cloves, cinnamon, and cardamom to it. All these spices will just pop open all those sinuses. Grind enough garlic cloves to give you one tablespoon of garlic juice. To this juice, add one teaspoon of honey and have this concoction in the morning. Alternatively, you can make a mixture out of one teaspoon each of honey, ginger juice, and garlic juice. This you can have throughout the day, as many times as you like. You can try eating a jalapeno pepper; it is very effective in draining the sinuses. In your diet, you can include vegetables like broccoli and cauliflower as they contain vitamin C in abundance, as well as antioxidants. Similarly, fruits such as strawberries, oranges, gooseberries, and pineapple too will serve the same purpose. Taking care of the sinuses will in turn take care of the blocked ears as well.

Besides infections, the most common reason for an earache are the outcome of a cold. The eustachian tube (A canal, is the size of the pencil that passes from the ear to the back of the nasal passage) is usually open so that the air pressure within the middle ear is equaled with the atmospheric air pressure. However, sometimes the eustachian tube could get backed up due to colds, allergies, and sinus or throat infections. Because there is lower air supply in the middle ear, it produces a negative pressure level, occasionally related with accumulation of fluid. Due to this you will not feel acute pain, but will experience a feeling of discomfort, pressure or repressed hearing.

Check out the following home remedies for blocked ears!
  1. Yawning or swallowing hard activates the muscles and opens a eustachian tube and is the easiest method to adjust a blocked ear.
  2. Heat application using warm cloth or heating pads will soothe an aching ear.
  3. Inset a few drops of warm oil in your ears and lie down with the ear in which the oil is inserted towards the ceiling for few minutes. After a while, hold a soft cloth over the ear and position yourself in a manner that your ear is towards the ground. The oil will drain out along with the wax.
