Can jock itch with open sores cause bacterial infection in sexual partner

Jock itch is a fungal infection that occurs in the groin area and results in an itchy rash. It can also develop on the inner thighs and buttocks. This condition is characterized by itching, redness and appearance of a ring-shaped rash. It generally develops in individuals who tend to perspire a lot. Jock itch is not a serious condition, although it can cause discomfort. The fungi that cause jock itch are normally present on the skin and are quite harmless. However in areas of the skin that are warm and moist, the fungi may spread and multiply, thereby leading to an infection. Jock itch can easily spread from one individual to another through sharing of personal items such as towels. Direct contact such as that which occurs during sexual intercourse can also cause transmission of the infection.

The symptoms of jock itch include redness and itching in the area of the genitals, thighs and anus. There may also be a burning sensation experienced in the affected areas. The skin in the area of the infection may peel or flake. The condition can be aggravated if tight under garments or pants are worn. Exercising or walking can also result in worsening of the symptoms. If the rash does not reduce in a period of two weeks, it is advisable to consult a doctor. Also, if the symptoms are severe, then medical examination is required.

You can alleviate the condition of jock itch using some home remedies. tea tree oil is anti-fungal in nature, and application of this oil on the affected areas will help to alleviate the symptoms. Keeping the affected areas clean and dry will prevent aggravation of the condition. You may use a hair dryer to dry up the area completely. Keep the setting low and hold the dryer at a safe distance from the skin. Garlic is very beneficial in treating fungal infections. Increase the consumption of garlic in your diet. You can also apply apple cider vinegar to the groin area with the help of a cotton ball. Continue this treatment for about five days after the symptoms go away. This will ensure that the infection has been arrested completely. Wear loose cotton garments that will prevent friction with the skin. Change undergarments and clothes regularly, especially after strenuous activity or exercise. Another remedy for treating jock itch is to add salt to a warm bath and soak in it for about twenty minutes. This will help to dry up the blisters and prevent spread of the infection.
