I have severe heart burn. I take a prescription but it is not working and i want to take something natural for it. Can you please help me?

Heartburn is one of the most common medical ailments to be suffering from and studies have shown that almost about 50% of the entire population of the country suffers from the condition at some level or another. Another study also suggests that about half the country's population is likely to experience an attack of heartburn at least once in a month - whether at an acute level or a chronic level. Therefore methods on how to stop heartburn are usually sought after by many. Understanding the various causes of heartburn as well as its symptoms will put you in better stead in the event that you are required to make any basic diagnosis of the condition.

Moreover, the condition is also known to be a symptom of some other underlying medical condition - such as in the case of GERD. Medically termed as gastroesophagael reflux, the condition is characterized by the buildup of stomach fluids that contain a certain amount of acids; being pushed up through the esophageal tube, back into the chest area. However, it is important to be aware of the fact that there is no necessity for the presence of heartburn to indicate the presence of GERD and vice versa. On its own, the condition could have a variety of different causes. The discomfort will usually start in the upper abdomen and then slowly rise up toward the chest cavity - causing pain in this area is what led to its name - despite the fact that it really didn't have anything to do with the heart. In some cases, along with the heartburn pain the patient is also likely to notice an odd taste in the back of his or her throat. Some of the more common causes of heartburn include a hiatal hernia, consumption of the wrong kinds of foods and an unhealthy overall diet; pressure on the stomach that is a result of frequent bending over, being pregnant or even substantially tight clothes. Obesity is also known to be a very common causing factor when it comes to heartburn, so losing weight might be one of the best methods of ensuring that the condition does not affect you to any significant level.

Because of the fact that the condition is such a common one, there are a wide range of acid reflux heartburn home remedies as well as other natural heartburn treatments. Aloe vera is highly regarded for its medical properties and drinking aloe vera juice is considered to be one of the more dependable heartburn treatment options. Another effective one of the many acid reflux heartburn remedies is to prepare some chamomile tea and have it after every meal as it would help ease the esophageal irritation that is likely to occur. Another one of the widely used natural remedies for severe heartburn is to cut a cabbage onto small pieces and immerse them in a pot of warm water and allow it to cook for a period of about 7 minutes. Once done, you should add some mashed potatoes and olive oil and consume it on a regular basis. You could also try adding one tablespoon of dried marshmallow root to a cup of boiling water and cover the pan with a lid to allow it to simmer for about 15 minutes. Drink about 4 to 5 cups of this every day after it has been strained. Another option is to combine equal portions of apple cider vinegar and honey and mix them together with a cup of boiled water. Heartburns could affect any person and it is necessary to keep track of how often you get the attacks. Consultation with the doctor would be necessary in case the attacks are very frequent.
