How do you cure stomach belching and smelly burps?

Burping or belching is the release of the air accumulated in the stomach and the intestines. Medically known as eructation, it is actually a good thing since it allows the gas accumulated in the stomach to be released, thus easing the pressure in the abdominal area. Interestingly while burping is considered an appreciative gesture towards the food in Eastern cultures, in the West it is frowned upon as bad manners, and one generally avoids burping in public. In order to avoid burping, one should eat slowly, allowing the stomach to digest the food that has been ingested. Avoid carbonated beverages which create air in the stomach and avoid using a straw to sip your drinks, since you swallow huge amounts of air this way. Apart from this, it is important never lie down immediately after eating and to stay active since this forces the air out of the body. Avoid tension and anxiety, and when stressed breathe slowly.

Ginger helps to relieve the gas built up in the body, so you can either have tea steeped in freshly grated ginger, or consume 1 tsp fresh ginger with 1 tsp lime juice after every meal. Lemon juice also works miracles for burping problems, and can be made by mixing 1 tsp lemon juice with ½ tsp baking soda and 1 cup of cold water. Yoghurt helps in digestion and should be consumed daily. After every meal, have 1 tsp of a mixture of cumin, fennel and celery seeds and drink around 1/3 cup of water to wash it down. Apart from this, peppermint tea and caraway seeds are beneficial for belching problems.
