Toenail fungus natural cures, vicks vaporub for toenail fungus

Our pharmacist told my husband to file his toenails down and apply vicks vapor rub on his toe nails to stop fungus. Has anyone tried this and do they know if it works?

There are several easy and effective ways to tackle the problem of toenail fungus at home. It is not the kind of problem that really requires you to go to a doctor or get any other kind of medical advice. That kind of a situation would only occur if you have neglected the problem for too much time and it has led to distortion or discoloration of your nails. If the pharmacist has suggested this rudimentary method, it certainly bears checking out. Since most of the home cures recommended for toenail fungus include using substances that are mentholated in nature, it is entirely possible that this method might just work.

Other remedial measures to cure toenail fungus include applying generous layers of tea tree oil to your toenails. Do this at night and wear thick socks to bed. This will enable the product to work all night. Before you wash this off in the morning, remember to rub your nails generously with hydrogen peroxide. After this, you can use any soap to wash off. This will also ensure that your nails become clean, as they have a tendency to get slightly yellow or orange when you have a fungal infection. Alternately, you can also use half a lime for the same effect.
