Strengthen fingernails

Thickening your finger nails would mean making them less brittle and prone to breaking. If you have weak and brittle nails, this would indicate that you spend a lot of time with your hands in water. This could be because you bathe excessively, wash dishes or clothes by hand or even swim too much.

In all these cases, your nails would have a tendency to become brittle and dry. The reason for this is that nails absorb water while they are in it and then dry out when out of water. This constant wetness and drying tends to weaken them considerably.

The first thing you would need to do is make sure you are not doing this to your nails. Wear gloves if you have to work in water for long periods of time.

Nails also weaken due to calcium deficiency. You should increase your intake of calcium in order to strengthen your nails. This will help tremendously. You should also coat your nails generously with a layer of moisturizer. The best moisturizer for this purpose is any vegetable cooking oil. The reason these are the best remedy is that they do not contain fragrance, which may have an inadvertently drying effect on the nail. Try to keep your nails short and they will chip and crack less. You should also eat a lot more cauliflower, which is supposed to strengthen your nails.
