What is an easy remedy that doesn't include lemon juice that sooths a deep chest cold?

Home remedies for chest cold

  • Drink 1 cup of warm milk mixed with ½ tsp of turmeric powder and a tsp of honey. In the morning, drink another warm cup of milk with the same amount of turmeric powder but you can exclude honey as it induces sleep.
  • Prepare ginger tea by boiling some ginger roots in water or steeping it with the tea. Peel and grate some fresh ginger roots and add it in 3 cups of water. Now, add a lump of jaggery, a pinch of salt and 1/4th tsp of black pepper powder. Boil this mixture to half its quantity, strain the liquid and sip it slowly as it warms. You can substitute jaggery with honey but add it to the strained concoction. Take 1 tsp of ginger juice with 1 tsp of honey 2 times a day.
  • Boil 2 tsp of the seeds of Bishop's Weed (carom seeds) in 2 cups of water. Boil it till it reduces to 1/3rd its quantity, add a pinch of common salt and then drink it when it is still warm. You can either add jaggery or honey to it or boil a handful of the leaves of Holy Basil with the seeds.
  • Inhale the steam from just boiled water mixed with a few drops of eucalyptus oil 3 to 4 times daily.
