Traetment for swelling and toothache in children

There can be several causes for toothache and swelling. One of the most common causes is tooth decay. Tooth decay can be caused by medical conditions, poor oral hygiene, damaged tooth, or erosion of enamel on the tooth. Another reason for toothache and swelling can be ulcers in the mouth. Ulcers are white or yellow sores with bright red edges. They usually occur on the gums or the inner lining of the cheek and are painful to the touch. It is easy to mistake the pain of mouth ulcers for a toothache, therefore it is almost essential to visit a dentist and get a thorough check-up done.

To relieve the pain caused by tooth decay, try some of the home remedies:

  • Keep 1-2 cloves seeds in your mouth, the clove extract helps in soothing the pain.
  • Consume lemon juice, Vitamin C helps in making the teeth strong.
  • Take 2 tablespoons of black pepper; add a pinch of salt and a few drops of water to make a thick paste. Apply it over the paining tooth for relief.

The following are some home remedies for treating mouth ulcers:

  • Extract the milk of grated coconut and gargle with it 3-4 times a day.
  • Gargle alternately with hot and cold water.
  • Eat raw tomatoes to get rid of mouth ulcers.

As a precaution against tooth decay, you should avoid consumption of frizzy drinks and diet that is high in sugar, buy good quality toothbrush, and follow proper brushing techniques. Include fresh juicy fruits, particularly those that are rich in Vitamin C, in your diet; increase the intake of leafy vegetables, cereals, and grams.
