2 weeks ago I fell and pulled a groin muscle.I still cannot walk. I can stand on both legs full weight but cannot walk without crutches.



You have a strained abductor muscle, this has happened due a quick turn when you fell.

  • Avoid movement as much as possible. If you are experiencing pain in the inner thigh. The use of a cold compress is an effective remedy. Place a cold compress on the affected area or apply ice on the sore spot  for 10 – 15 minutes, 2- 3 times daily. Continue this treatemnt for two to three days
  • The use of an elastic support bandage in the case of a muscle pull or strain can be beneficial. You could use an elastic support bandage and wrap the injured part.
  • It is advisable that a proper course of strengthening and restoration of the muscle should be followed. This may last for a couple of weeks if you are lucky, or it may take as a few months.
  • After a few weeks you could try out some strengthening exercises like the butterfly stretch and the hurdle stretch.
Butterfly Stretch

Slowly try and sit on the floor.  While maintaning a straight back and bent knees. Keep the soles of your feetparallel to each other and place them togother. Try to pull the ankles inward. Rest your elbows on the inside of the knees and lean forward. Do it in such a way that your elbows push the knees toward the floor. You may hold the stretch for15 - 20 seconds and repeat it 2 - 3 times
