Flu treatment at home

My boyfriend has the flu. Are there any at-home remedies that can be used to ease the symptoms? If so should I still take him to the doctor or just let it run its course?

Flu treatment at home

Influenza, or flu, as it is commonly called, is caused by a virus. This virus causes an infection in the respiratory tract. The common symptoms of flu are very similar to those of a cold. Your boyfriend has probably got a cold and is complaining of body aches and extreme fatigue. If his temperature soars high, then it is advisable to consult a doctor.  Also, if your boy friend's flu symptoms refuse to subside despite various measures, then you should consult a medical practitioner.

You can keep the body temperature within control by using cold compress. Dip a soft cloth in a bowl of cold water and apply this to the forehead. Dip it again into the water and change the water frequently. Your boyfriend should rest. Sleep is the best way to cure flu. Keep him well covered and let him sleep. However, ensure that he gets plenty of fresh air and that the room is well aired. You can give him orange juice and water periodically.  However, keep his food intake light. Soups are fine. So is rice. Avoid giving him oily and spicy food. Sipping warm water can give his throat relief. He can also gargle with warm water to which a pinch of salt has been added. If he has a runny nose, you can get him to inhale steam. This will clear his nose and give him relief. Since flu is infectious, it is advisable to keep him in isolation.
