We often tend to take our feet for granted, not giving them the care that they deserve. Blackened heels are often an outcome of neglect coupled with the absence of foot care. This can create an embarrassing situation, especially one wants to wear open shoes.

Furthermore dry skin and a lack of hygiene can also lead to this particular condition. Here are few simple home remedies that will help in treating this problem.  Add 2 teaspoons of freshly squeezed lime juice to a liter of warm water.

Soak your feet in this mixture for about 15 minutes daily, till you begin to notice a visible a difference.

Mash an over ripe banana and apply a thick layer of the pulp onto your heels. Leave this application on for about fifteen minutes, after which rinse it off with lukewarm water. This remedy will help in moisturizing your feet, making them soft and smooth. Mix together a teaspoon each of rose water and glycerin. Massage this liquid into your heels for 5-10 minutes, preferably at bedtime, and wash it off the next morning. This should be done daily on a regular basis till the skin begins to lighten. Aloe vera gel is considered to be an effective remedy for this particular condition. Slice a piece of an aloe leaf into half and scoop out the gel. Apply a liberal quantity of this gel on to the affected area and leave it on for 20-30 minutes. Rinse the application off with lukewarm water. This remedy should be performed 2-3 times a day for positive results.

Warm a tablespoon of sesame oil. Massage the warm oil into your heels at bedtime and rinse it off next morning. As an alternative you could also used coconut oil instead of sesame oil, as it will be equally beneficial. The use of a pumice stone is also recommended for this condition. Soak your feet in some warm water for about 10 minutes after which scrub the heels with the help of a pumice stone. This will help in getting rid of dead skin making the skin softer and smoother. Mix together a teaspoon each of lime juice and papaya juice. Massage this mixture into your heels and let the application stay on for 10-15 minutes. It is important to make sure that your feet are clean at all times, particularly when you get back home from outside. Additionally, keeping your feet well moisturized is equally important.
