Weight Loss in Middle Aged Women

by Shaun Damon

Our body continuously keeps changing. As we grow, our body functions also continue to change. In fact, as we grow older, our hold on the body decreases and it becomes difficult to control certain aspects of it, like weight and body shape.

Women who are above 35 years of age, often find it very difficult to work on their weight. When we are young, it is relatively easier to lose weight. However, as we continue to grow older, the body fat becomes more stubborn and therefore more difficult to lose.

A lot of people think that eating less after a certain age can help you keep in top shape. However, that is not really the truth. The truth is that our body’s needs change when we are older and we need to change our eating patterns and our diet in order to suit these needs. Cutting down on the meal size may simply cause you to suffer from deficiencies. It is especially important to eat a healthy breakfast everyday. A healthy breakfast is the first requirement for a healthy body. This is also vital in order to keep the metabolism healthy.

A regular workout in addition to a healthy and wholesome diet can help you stay in shape. Research has shown that activities which involve the shaking of the entire body, like dancing, jumping, swimming and walking, can in fact help burn more calories than other workouts. The cheapest workout option is to buy a skipping rope. Skipping for even 15-20 minutes everyday will help you maintain your figure. It is often seen that women over 35 have many responsibilities—the home, the job, and the kids. Sometimes, it may become difficult to take out specific time to exercise. However, if you plan it correctly, you don’t really have to take out separate time for exercise. In fact, while your children are busy with their homework or when it is TV time, you can get a skipping rope and skip in front of the TV. This way, you will be with family and will not miss your favorite TV programme and will have a good time for working out too.

While working out is important, another important thing to keep in mind in order to lose weight, is to eat at least three portions of fruit every day. Fruits not only take care of the changing needs for micronutrients, but also contain digestible fiber which can help keep your weight in check.
