Seasonal allergy is an allergic reaction that takes place only around certain time of the year; these allergies are caused due to presence of certain allergens in the air like pollens, etc. Seasonal allergy might be triggered during spring or fall time of the year, unlike perennial allergy which remains throughout the year.

There are a number of allergies that occur during springtime, these are pollens from different trees and weeds like the poplar, oak, sycamore, oak, olive, birch, etc. Pollens carried by insects tend to enter respiratory tract, eyes, nose, lungs and skin can cause allergies. These allergies therefore may occur only from the months of January to April.

Spring allergies require to be treated during this season, since it might not occur in any other time.

Spring allergies may give illnesses like allergic asthma, rashes, watery eyes (allergic conjunctivitis), hay fever (allergic rhinitis), etc. Remedies for spring allergies are trying to avoid coming in contact with pollens. It has been found out that pollens are highest in number in air from 5am to 10 am, people with allergies can avoid venturing out of the house in spring, they can also try and avoid pollens coming in house by keeping windows closed, laundry and linen should be machine dried inside of home, drying outside can cause pollens to embed inside these. You can relocate temporarily or take a vacation in peak pollen season.

Summertime allergies are caused due to grass pollens, these pollens like the springtime pollens start during spring and last till summer. These pollens can give allergies like hives and itching.

There are also fall allergies, these are caused due to pollens in fall, in some colder countries, trees can pollinate in fall also. These pollens can cause allergies, some weeds like pigweed, ragweed, sagebrush, etc. too can cause fall allergies.

All allergies can be avoided by avoiding coming into contact with pollens, it is necessary to know peak time when pollens are present in air. Pollens from flowering plants are not carried by insects, there simply drift with the wind therefore are less likely to cause any allergies rather than pollens carried by insects.

You can take help of an allergist to find out which pollens you are allergic to, an allergist will perform specific tests and you can get more specific treatment rather than being treated for all types of pollens. Treatment too is seasonal for seasonal allergies.
