Get Rid of Stains on Teeth

by Kevin Pederson
Humans use their teeth to tear and chew food. The teeth are also fairly prominent when it comes to the appearance of an individual. Each tooth is made of many different layers.

The top layer of enamel is white in color. This hard layer protects the insides of the tooth from infection. The teeth need to be hard so that they are capable of chewing food which is then passed through the throat into the digestive system.

The teeth are exposed to many different chemicals in the foods and drinks that are consumed by human beings. This can cause staining of the teeth to take place. Brown stains on teeth are a common side effect of cigarette smoking. Another cause for brown stains on teeth is the consumption of tea, particularly black tea. Cigarette stains on teeth are likely to occur on most of the front teeth of an individual whereas brown stains on teeth caused by tea may be limited to three or four teeth in the front of the mouth. Coffee is another substance that can cause stains to appear on the teeth.

There are different ways by which one can get rid of stains on teeth. Stains on the teeth can be eliminated by visiting a dentist who will polish the teeth using mechanical equipment. This is usually done when an individual has large scale brown marking. However, this is an extreme step to get rid of stains on teeth. Smaller steps can be taken to get rid of stains on teeth. These include some regular hygiene aspects that an individual can focus on.

The use of a toothbrush is extremely important when one wishes to clean one’s teeth. Brushing should at least be done twice a day to ensure good oral hygiene. However, there is a risk that excessive brushing and excessively aggressive brushing could cause the lining of the teeth to be diminished.

One can therefore add some food to the diet that will help with cleaning the teeth. Apples are crunchy and considered to be good for dental health. There is a side benefit that an apple is actually good for the health in any case. Apples should be consumed without slicing them into wedges. The skin should also be intact so that this provides abrasion to the teeth and roughage to the digestive system. Apart from this, regular water consumption would help to keep teeth clean and free from germs throughout the day.
