Diagnosis of Toxoplasmosis

The diagnosis of toxoplasmosis is usually very simple and straightforward. When the person manifests flu like symptoms, the doctor usually recommends a blood test to check for flu. There are no tests for toxoplasmosis apart from blood tests. Since the condition is caused by a parasite, the presence of the micro-organism can be detected in the blood when blood tests are ordered. From the blood tests, the doctor can tell if the infection is recent, acute or chronic. A simple blood test is usually enough to determine the presence of the parasite toxoplasma gondii.
