Prognosis of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder

The prognosis of Obsessive-compulsive disorder is very poor. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is a chronic illness that is also long-term.

Most often, there are periods in the person's life when the symptoms become very severe, followed by periods of partial remission. During this period, the symptoms become much less severe. Almost all cases improve with treatment, but there is no treatment which can help wipe the condition completely. Prognosis is most favorable for those who have very mild symptoms of the condition.
