Home remedies for a runny nose: The simple way to clear a runny and stuffy nose is to blow your nose at regular intervals, but doing it too often can make the outside of the nose sore. The runny nose will clear in a few days. To get rid of common cold, lemon with honey in hot water is very helpful. This will clear the throat and also help in clearing the runny nose. You also can add pepper powder to honey and consume it to stop a runny nose.

Take a hot shower or bath for immediate relief. Add a few drops of eucalyptus oil to the bath water to relieve a runny nose. Try steam inhalation with eucalyptus oil or menthol to clear the mucous.

Garlic soup is excellent for bringing relief from a runny nose and cold, as it has antispasmodic and antiseptic properties. Boil 10-15 grams of garlic and drink the strained liquid with sugar twice a day to clear the nose. Chew a small piece of ginger to warm up your body and therefore help clear the mucous and congestion. Put a few peppercorns in your mouth and keep chewing it to release the flavor. This helps in stopping a runny nose.

Herbal tea made from cayenne pepper, mint, elder berry and yarrow is excellent in curing a runny nose. Chamomile tea is also useful for runny nose.

Inhale smoke from burning turmeric to stop a runny nose. Add ΒΌ tsp of turmeric to warm milk, along with pepper and drink to clear the runny nose. Chicken soup spiced with pepper, cumin seeds and garlic will clear congestion and release all the mucous and cure common cold.

Eat more of citrus fruits, vegetables, nuts and take plenty of rest to fight common cold and a runny nose.
