Causes of Isolated Systolic Hypertension

Posted in Category : Men's Health

Isolated Systolic Hypertension is considered to be old people’s disease simply because 70% of old people at the age of 60 or more are seen with the symptoms. If this is really the case for this type of hypertension, how come people during the primitive period were not seen with symptoms? They remained physically active even though they were already way past 60 which was the life length in the old times. Considering this, it can be said that aside from old age, there are other causes of Isolated Systolic Hypertension that need to be given attention.

In many western countries where Isolated Systolic Hypertension is prevalent, it was seen that people suffering from this type of hypertension typically lived quite a different lifestyle from others. It was therefore considered that lifestyle is one of the causes of Isolated Systolic Hypertension. According to certain studies, people associated with the symptoms of this type of hypertension live a sedentary lifestyle. These are people who during their younger years were not physically active. There were the people who did office works and who were always sitting down.

Another cause of isolated systolic hypertension that was noted was the increased body fat. This can also be attributed to the first cause because generally, people who are overweight have less mobility. Thus, the fat deposits were not burned and converted into energy. So it is always highly advised that people should take regular exercise at least 10 minutes in a day. This greatly helps in burning those fat deposits.

One of the most important causes of Isolated Systolic Hypertension is the elasticity loss. The loss in elasticity leads to the peripheral arteries and aorta dispensability. Accordingly, aorta with normal elasticity properties is more energy-absorbent causing the systolic blood pressure to be normal and attenuated. However, if the elasticity is lost, the walls surrounding the aorta thicken causing the calcium deposition to be accumulated.

Although not so many treatment options are available for Isolated Systolic Hypertension, knowing its causes will help seize its prevalence. The causes of Isolated Systolic Hypertension are easy to avoid. Awareness is the key. Being aware of what your daily actions can bring you will help you find ways to modify them. With a little addition to your mobility and consciousness about the food you eat are already great factors to help you avoid this so called old people’s disease. You may not feel the effect of what you are doing now but health always gets payment at a later time.
