Causes of smelly and green stools in three month old baby?

Babies who are fed nothing but breast milk in the first six months of their life, should ideally have bright yellow colored stools, which are not foul smelling. However, when you change the baby’s feeding schedule or change what you are feeding your child, the color of the stools will change. Regardless, the stools will change to brown from bright yellow. Babies who are suffering from colic, due to getting too much of foremilk and none of hind milk, have green colored stools that smell very foul. The smelly and off-colored stools may also be caused due to certain medications that do not suit your child. These may be inoculations, antibiotics, or even nutritional supplements.

In case of loose and green stool in breastfed babies, it is possible that the underlying cause may be an infection. In such a case, take the child to a pediatrician immediately. Green mucous stool in baby is also an indication of parasites in the baby’s body. If your baby has not got all the required shots, it is important for you to take your baby to the doctor and get a complete medical checkup. Also make sure your baby gets all the required vaccinations.

My problem is I usually have hard stool and constipation and pain in right side of my anus.

When you are constipated, the stools become dry and hard, and it is extremely painful to pass them from your body. Pain in the lower abdomen is usually a sign of any kind of digestive distress. However, there are some other signs as well. Constipation and hard stools are the cause of digestive problems, and constipation, in turn, intensifies the problems further.

As the bowel movements become fewer and spread further apart, you will have more problems in passing stools. They will become dryer and you may have to strain yourself a lot to pass them. If you do not, you will experience bloating and pain in your abdomen. On the other hand, if you do strain to relieve yourself, there is a good chance that you may experience an anal fissure. This is a small break in in the delicate skin of your anus. This causes intense pain in your anus when you force yourself to empty your bowels.

In more severe cases, when constipation persists for several weeks or months, it would cause hemorrhoids, which are often painful and may even bleed occasionally. When your stool is hard to pass, you will have a lot of discomfort coming your way. Using hard stool remedies will not help you with the pain. The fissure may take some time to heal, and the constipation pain in the anus will also take some time to be treated completely. It is best to consult a doctor for proper medical treatment.

Suffering from frequent and green sticky stools?

When you have an occasional sticky green bowel stool, there is usually nothing to panic about. A lot of different foods can cause the appearance of green colored stools. Your medications and even the vitamin supplements you consume could cause your bowels to be colored green. Green leafy vegetables, especially if consumed every day, can lead to green colored stools. The consistency of the stools may also change along with the frequency with which you have them. Colored gelatin and cool aid are some of the other causes of green colored stools.

Apart from what you are eating, there are some other causes of the appearance of green colored stools. If your liver is secreting bile right into the stools, your stools may appear dark green in color. Bile is usually never secreted directly into the stools. When bile is secreted into the front part of the intestines, it is bright green in color; this is the green colored pigment that makes the stool look green in color. When the bowel color is green, you should not get alarmed, but you should definitely meet with your doctor. Among the other reasons for green stool is the presence of parasites in the intestines. They often secrete a chemical that causes the stools to become green in color.

Typical metabolic disorders may lead to peculiar smells in stools. Metallic smell is specially due to occult blood discharge from the rectum or anus which is mixed with the stool. Its main cause may be worm infestation in the gut, rectal ulcers, colon lesions and cancers. Blood as one knows is the combination of hemoglobin and other components like platelets, WBC's, RBC's etc So haem specially means iron. This is the metal that smells so peculiar when mixed with enzymes in the liver and afterwards with stool formation.
