Question on mineral oil and earache

Can mineral oil help relieve an earache?

Natural cures for mineral oil

  • Warm some mineral oil in hot water and with the help of an eyedropper, pour 2 or 3 drops of it in your ears. But do not use it if you have a perforated eardrum.
  • You van also use decongestants which will shrink the Eustachian tube and reduce the pain.
  • Put cotton balls in your ears or wear a scarf when going out if pain increases due to wind.
  • Dip a warm towel in hot water, squeeze it and press it against your ears. This will help in reducing earache and you can repeat it several times a day. You can also use a heated pad as a hot compress.
  • If you get earaches frequently, buy a mini hot water bottle which can be fitted over the ears. Wrap a soft napkin over a hot water bottle and use it as a pillow.
  • Dip a root of Bael Fruit in Margosa oil and light it. Place it directly over your ears and let a few drops of the oil dripping from it to get inside your ears. Margosa has antiseptic properties and Bael works like an astringent. Both these herbs when combined together are effective in curing infection, ear discharge and inflammation.
