What Are Natural Treatments for Amennorhoea?



Amenorrhea or absence of menstrual periods can occur due to various reasons. The condition is of two types, primary and secondary. Primary amenorrhea is said to occur when menstruation does not start in a girl due to problems of the ovaries or other factors. Secondary amenorrhea refers to the absence of menstruation for a period of three months or longer. It is a good idea to consult your doctor so that the underlying cause can be diagnosed and treated.

You can also follow some natural treatments which are known to help in treating amenorrhea:

  • Consuming tomato juice every day is believed to help in treating menstrual problems.
  • Herbs such as chamomile, oregano, rosemary, yarrow and chaste tree are known to be effective in treating amenorrhea.
  • Add half a teaspoon of cinnamon powder to milk and drink before going to bed at night.
  • Add a pinch of saffron to half a cup of water and bring to a boil. Reduce the solution to one tablespoon and consume thrice daily.
  • Include turmeric in your daily diet as it is known to be beneficial in alleviating menstrual trouble.
  • Consume one teaspoon of fenugreek powder along with milk at night.
  • Also incorporate other beneficial foods such as bitter gourd, papaya, ginger, sesame seeds and snake gourd.
  • Add half a teaspoon of honey to a couple of tablespoons of Indian gooseberry juice and consume.
  • Ginger tea may be consumed regularly to stimulate the onset of menstrual periods.
  • Add 6grams of flax seeds to about 250ml of water and boil for ten minutes. This is a popular home remedy for missed menstrual periods.
  • Sometimes stress triggers hormonal imbalances which contribute to amenorrhea. The best way to relieve stress is to engage in moderate exercise, yoga, meditation or breathing techniques.
