Causes Of Swollen Lymph Nodes: Glands Under Ear And In Neck On Left Side Of Face.

Lymph nodes are glands that are present throughout your entire body and are considered extremely important as they enable your body to fight and recognize germs, infections and other foreign substances in your body. Glands can be prominently felt with your fingers in areas like your groin, under your jaw and chin, the back of your hand and behind your ears. The presence of these glands is normal and a swollen gland might refer to the enlargement of one or more of the lymph nodes. The most common reason for the swelling of these glands is associated to an infection. This infection is mainly a viral infection like flu or common cold. It can also be due to certain inflammatory conditions, abscess or even cancer. In case a swelling occurs suddenly accompanied with a lot of pain, it is primarily caused due to an infection or an injury where as a swelling that has developed gradually without any pain may be as a result of a tumor or cancer.

A swollen lymph gland will generally disappear by itself, but in case of a lot of pain along with a sore throat, it is best you consult a doctor. Gargle with warm water with a pinch of salt added to it at least twice a day especially before going to bed as it helps to ease out the pain. Warm the affected area where the glands are swollen with a heating pad or a hot washcloth to reduce the pain. A great remedy for swollen glands is boiling 3 cups of water with 2 teaspoons of basil leaves and cinnamon. Allow it to cook for 10 minutes and then simmer it for another 10 minutes. Drain this mixture and drink it as it works wonders. Have an ounce of aloe Vera juice every day to treat swollen neck glands while having a cup of mullein tea daily helps to minimize the swelling. You can make this tea by putting 1 mullein tea bag in 6 ounces of hot water for about three minutes and add some honey to sweeten it. Make garlic a part of your daily diet as it is an excellent source to kill bacteria. The results will take time to show but this is a great method to avoid swollen glands. Avoid smoking and stop drinking completely as it might worsen the condition even more.
