Immediate remedy for painful piles?

Piles is an extremely painful physical condition in which the veins around the anal area or lower rectum get inflamed and swollen. The condition is called hemorrhoids, but is commonly referred to as piles. Because of this inflammation, passage of stools may be very difficult because of the intense pain. If neglected it would only spawn a vicious cycle as piles itself is caused due to constipation, and is worsened with it. You could suffer from either dry or bleeding piles but both can result in bleeding if prolonged. Piles may be of two types; internal or external.  Internal piles would not be visible but can be felt while the external variety would be visible around the exteriors of the anal region.

Piles develop because of increased pressure on the veins, either internal or external. Piles can be caused by a variety of factors, mostly dietary. In most cases simply identifying and eliminating the cause can solve the problem. The most common cause would be a low fiber diet, chronic constipation and bowel disorders, straining top evacuate the bowels, being seated or standing for prolonged periods, obesity, pregnancy, weakness of body tissues, stress, heredity, prolonged dysentery, chronic diarrhea, and strenuous physical exercise. In older men prostate problems can also contribute to the development of piles and growths or cancer in the pelvic region and bowels may also cause piles due to pressure on the abdomen.

To effectively treat your problem you will need to make changes that go beyond a temporary remedy. Dietary and lifestyle changes are essential on a long term basis, and can be coupled with some effective home remedies to treat your condition presently.

  • Figs have been widely recommended in the treatment of piles and are found to be effective in most situations. Just wash couple of figs and allow them to soak over night in a glass of chilled water. Consume them along with the water the following morning. You can soak more for the evening as well. Keep up this practice for at least two or three weeks.
  • A mixture of fresh mint leaves juice and lemon juice along with honey also makes for a good natural piles remedy. The mixture should contain a teaspoon of each and a tablespoon of honey.
  • Mash a ripe banana and boil it in a cup of milk. Have this at least twice or thrice in a day.

While these remedies can help overcome piles, long term changes to your diet and lifestyle are necessary for a lasting solution.
